Well done!!! :)

I like to think of the GRE as a person being filmed in the first person, and the only thing it sees before being pummeled is my fist flying towards it. I am sure if the scene was filmed in 3D, it would increase the effect. Nothing drives the point home like a punch filmed in 3D. I’m pretty sure that the paper glasses would come off after the audience cowered away from the imaginary fist.

I was confident I would punch the GRE in the face, and am pleased to see that I did for the most part.

Official Results from Apr. 17 GRE test

I received my official scores for the GRE in the mail.

  • Verbal - 156, 72nd Percentile
  • Quantitative - 149, 49th Percentile
  • Analytical Writing - 4.5, 72nd Percentile

I would describe these results as “solid” with room for improvement. I am pleased with this first effort, and realize that spending more time preparing would have helped.

I am not at all surprised that my writing and verbal scores were higher than my high school mathematics score.

Thank you all for your support.

BUENA SUERTE DAN!! I have all the confidence in the world in you. No worries, my friend. You will rock this.

I ran through three separate practice tests. Strangely enough, the quantitative material I do best at is the Geometry section. I took Geometry as a freshman…in high school (14 years ago.) Explain that ish… I had to recall some of the material, like the quadratic formula.

The verbal stuff is more of a crap shoot. I think the biggest challenge will be maintain focus so I don’t make silly mistakes because I didn’t read carefully enough.

I hope I can remember enough high school algebra and utilize enough of my extensive vocabulary and produce desirable results on the GRE tomorrow. I only want to have to take this four and a half hour exam once. It’s like what Tony Stark said in ‘Iron Man,’ I only want to fire the weapon (my brain) once.
Dan, on tomorrow’s GRE test
