As the candy hearts poured into the fiery quasar, a wondrous thing happened, why not. They vaporized into a mystical love radiation that spread across the universe, destroying many, many planets, including two gangster planets and a cowboy world! But one planet was exactly the right distance to see the romantic rays but not be destroyed by them: Earth. So all over the world, couples stood together in joy - and me, Zoidberg! And no one could’ve been happier unless it would’ve also been Valentine’s Day.

What? It was? Hooray!

A vacation in my own back yard….

I spent the past week house sitting for one of my professors and his wife. Here is a list of why it has been an awesome experience:

  1. When I come home from work, the cat is waiting for me. His name is Bloo and he just wants to hang out. I oblige him, and it feels good.
  2. It feels like a home. The house is not a mess but it has definitely been lived in, and there is an instant sense of familiarity to the place
  3. These people own the entire series of Futurama, Napoleon Dynamite, and all the Austin Powers movies on DVD - not to mention the “Empire Strikes Back” soundtrack on vinyl.
  4. My professor showed me his bourbon collection and said I could help myself. I did just that - one glass of his good stuff, one glass of his cheap stuff.
  5. A recliner and futon face a 57” HD Tv with surround sound complete with good cable.
  6. While at the conference, a picture surfaced of my professor closing the conference with the hammer of Thor. You know, the toy hammer from the Avengers.
  7. Free laundry. I’ve done it like four times this week.
  8. I was sick this week, and this was the best possible place to get better.
  9. I do not have to worry about anyone but myself and the cat. When I woke up this morning I was met with silence. The kind of silence that makes you feel that there is nothing to be worried about in the world.

Random Letter Challenge Day 8: A letter to a giant space robot

Dear Giant Space Robot,

It must have been something to meet the creator of the universe and receive feedback about your performance as a god a mini-world.

There have been many times in my life where I felt I was doing well until everything was destroyed.

I’m not sure if a robot like yourself can fully comprehend the wisdom of: “sometimes its what you don’t do that makes the most difference.” Aren’t robots programmed to perform a specific function? Are you able to think?

Anyway, being everything to everyone couldn’t have been easy, but no one’s perfect - with the exception of the creator of the universe.
