Trivia Night Recap, Valentine’s Day Edition

“We don’t do cocaine but we like the way it smells” scored a decisive victory at Boone’s Tavern Trivia Night this evening, scoring 56 points and re-capturing first place. “That guy’s” finished second, four points off the pace.

“Cocaine” returned to form and won the first two rounds of the competition with a combined score of 28, separating itself from the rest of the pack. The trivia overlord announced that “Cocaine’s” lead after two rounds was substantial. The other teams were unable to close the gap and “Cocaine” won the game with 28 points in the final round, good for the second best score in the round.

The questions revolved around the Valentine’s Day theme, such as the word ‘valentine,’ biological hearts, and typical Valentine’s Day gifts like chocolates. There was a noticeable aura of confidence and feeling that the team would do well from the beginning.

“None of us were on an ‘OFF’ night, all of us were an ‘ON’ night,” Kevin explained.

“We didn’t beat ourselves and make many silly mistakes to drop points. We were sure of our answers tonight,” added Dan.

Clutch responses fueled the victory, as “Cocaine” dropped minimal points on the final questions of each round, which routinely carry the most points. Answering was evenly distributed as each player had an opportunity to enlighten others in their areas of expertise. Nick answered a question about the greater New England area, Mike offered insight into medical terminology, Dan responded to a question about college athletics, Chris’ research into the St. Valentine’s Day massacre paid off and Kevin shared his knowledge of diamond rings.

The trivia overlord announced that next week will be the final competition of the term, and the winner will receive a Grand Prize. “Cocaine” and “That guy’s” team appear to be the leading contenders for the overall title.

“That guy” was present again, clad in the velociraptor shirt he wore a couple weeks ago, complete with his backward hat covering his repulsive hair. While he has not been as obnoxious as he once was, there is still plenty of incentive to defeat his team since “Cocaine” provides the stiffest competition.

“We don’t do cocaine but we like the way it smells” competes for the overall title next Tuesday at Boone’s Tavern Trivia Night at 8:00 p.m.
