Truthful Tuesday
As I found myself awake in the wee hours of the morning, I began to think about the disappointments and rejections I’ve had in my life and what they would look like if they were visible scars. Obviously some would be older than others, and some would have never fully healed. I imagined these scars appearing on my back and wondered if they produced a great deal of pain. Any wound, physical or...

Interesting stat: DangerDTM, his siblings and coed...
Dan’s inclusion in his brother’s coed softball team marks the first time that Dan and his two siblings have played on the same organized team at the same time. This feat took 24 years to accomplish.

Getting my read on...
It might be time to rediscover a selection from my substantial list of half-finished books. I need an imagination injection. Possibilities: Franz Kafka’s “Metamorphosis” G. K. Chesterton’s “Orthodoxy” Gil Asakawa’s “Being Japanese-American”

Truthful Tuesday: Calling it what it is
It was a great relief to enter a job interview and almost immediately be on the same page as the interviewer. I got a job offer as a pizza delivery man, which I admit is not where I thought I would be in my career. As we spoke, I talked about my ambition to be a sports information director, my time as an Intern, and was honest about what I wanted out of the job delivering pizzas. The manager...

I left my car lights on, and feel pretty good...
I sat down in my car after spending four hours in the office (a coffee shop) and went to turn the ignition. After two failed attempts I discovered I had left my lights on and drained the energy from my car battery. “Snap,” I thought. I called my sister and then my mom about the predicament and they said they could come and give me a jump. “I can be there in 30 minutes,”...

callouslycasual replied to your post: Official Results from Apr. 17 GRE test Well done!!! :) I like to think of the GRE as a person being filmed in the first person, and the only thing it sees before being pummeled is my fist flying towards it. I am sure if the scene was filmed in 3D, it would increase the effect. Nothing drives the point home like a punch filmed in 3D. I’m pretty sure that...

Official Results from Apr. 17 GRE test
I received my official scores for the GRE in the mail. Verbal - 156, 72nd Percentile Quantitative - 149, 49th Percentile Analytical Writing - 4.5, 72nd Percentile I would describe these results as “solid” with room for improvement. I am pleased with this first effort, and realize that spending more time preparing would have helped. I am not at all surprised that my writing and...

Muamba walks onto the field six weeks after... →
Today, Fabrice Muamba walked onto the pitch at the Reebok Stadium as his team faced off against Tottenham Hotspur. On Mar. 17, Muamba collapsed on the field at London’s White Hart Lane from a cardiac arrest and was revived by members of the Tottenham medical staff and a heart specialist, who climbed out of the stands. This is a special moment for all involved. I got goosebumps watching it.

"We don't do cocaine but we like the way it...
“We don’t do cocaine but we like the way it smells” was abolished from Boone’s Tavern and Trivia Night this evening, as management cited the team being condescending and rude to the wait staff and “riding the lightning:” using earned gift certificates as a substitute for the tab, not buying additional food or drink.  The decision to oust “Cocaine”...

Truthful Tuesday - Daydreaming
At least one time a day, I imagine that I am a European soccer (football) star. Usually I take a free kick or penalty kick. Once I put the ball in play, the overwhelming roar of the imaginary crowd compels me to celebrate in my customary manner (which is pretty awesome.)
